Toilet Paper and the many other optional uses
80On a roll
We are all very familiar with toilet paper and it's uses in the bathroom. After all, everybody has it and everybody uses it. It is a fact of life, and frankly, it really helps clean up life's little messes (or big messes!)
However, are you aware of the many other uses of toilet paper?
Yes, you heard that right. There are many other uses for toilet paper other than just wiping your... behind! All you have to do is get a little creative and the creativity doesn't have to happen in the bathroom!
Toilet Paper... the obvious extra uses
There are some obvious uses for toilet paper. I know what you are thinking... BUT what could they really be other than what it was intended for.
1. Wiping your nose - Yes - how many times have you been out of Kleenex only to realize that your nose is running for the hills. Well, no need to catch, however, it is appropriate to probably wipe it.
When my family buys Kleenex it is usually because someone is sick and really needs it. However, it doesn't make a regular appearance on our shopping list. That is because my kids like to play with it and waste it if it is just sitting on the coffee table. Therefore, it is better to save the money and just grab a few squares of toilet paper... it works just fine and is better than using your sleeve!
2. Bug cleanup! - I am not a fan of bugs. However, I am not about to squash them on my floor and leave their remains. For this reason, toilet paper comes in really handy. After all, you don't want to use your kitchen sponge to wipe up the mess (or a wash cloth!) You want something disposable and preferably cheap. So grab that toilet paper and get to wiping up those bug guts!
3. As a Seat Cover - Need to take a seat and the only option is.... ewwwww... well now there are no worries. Use the toilet paper to cover the nasty mess. Actually, this should be done whenever you are using a public bathroom. After all, you don't know what was there before you. And if the toilet covers are missing in action, toilet paper is your next best option!
Oh scary....

Toilet Paper - The Not So Obvious Uses
1. As a Costume - You might be wondering what toilet paper could do to actually be considered a costume, but when it comes to costumes, it might be one of the cheapest and easiest costumes to make. All you need to do is wrap yourself in toilet paper and voila - your a mummy! You just need to get creative... and don't worry... if the toilet paper starts to break just head to your nearest bathroom for some replacement parts!
2. As a decoration - Now I am not suggesting that you grab a couple rolls of toilet paper and decorate your house, but if you think back to the high school days and homecoming, I am sure we all remember all the hard decorating done throughout the neighborhood. Not that this is a wise deocarting option, but decorating is what it is! Note: Toilet Papering is not recommended by the author of this hub!
3. To make flowers - Toilet paper can be beautiful. If you don't think so, take a few minutes a fold one for yourself. You can either pass the flower off as a gift to loved one to let them know you are thinking about them or make a bouqet for yourself. These little paper flowers are easy enough to make, anybody can do it. There are several different techniques that you can use, just be sure to have fun and try them all! Who knows what you may find when it comes to the different toilet paper crafts!
Who would have ever thought...
From the original intention of wiping your..... to making some beautiful flowers, toilet paper can be used for many different reasons. Whether it is for practical purposes or for nothing even close to practical, remember to look at things a little differently. You never know what you may come up with.
So, do you have any fun uses for toilet paper?

Who would of thought about all those uses and you're right-on with everyone except maybe the flowers...they are beautiful though. I'm running low on my supply of TP and will pick some up shortly. We can't live without it for sure. Thanks for the smile.
Hahaha! Some great tips,here... voted up, useful and funny.
Let's not forget its use as a cat toy. If you make the mistake of hanging the roll with the paper coming out over the top, that dangling bit is just toooooo tempting for kitties! They will bat, paw and swipe at it until half the roll is lying in graceful festoons along the baseboard.
They also love to play with the empty roll tubes--especially if you string them together and drag them around the floor. ;-) My cats describe this toy "in their own words..." LOL http://talkwiththepaws.blogspot.com/2010/09/we-iz-
Interesting, funny, useful!!!
it is the enemy of every bug! good job.
I'm impressed. Before reading this article, I would have never guessed that toilet paper was good for anything other than a "nature call."
Great hub
John
Toilet paper may be one of the most useful products ever invented. Ask any bear that lives in the woods. (Charmin TV commercial). Thanks for an interesting, fun read, Stacy.
Voted up and awesome, I've seen some impressive paper crafts before, but never with toilet paper! lol
Thanks for SHARING.
These are some very interesting suggestions on what to do with toilet paper. I have to say that those flowers pictured were beautiful. I will have to try although I don't think they will look anywhere as good. Thanks for SHARING.
If you buy TP in bulk, the giant plastic container can be used to make a pretty cool fort for a little one. You need three big packages to make a tunnel.
I once saw an art piece done entirely in TP and white glue. It was listed for around 10K and probably worth it too!
I never buy Kleenex either unless someone is sick with a cold.
Way back when I used to make flowers out of Kleenex all the time. I remember one time someone was getting married and we made a ton of them to attach to the back of the Bride and Grooms car. Good thing it didn't rain that day :) Have never thought of making the flowers out of toilet paper though.
I've used toilet paper to wipe up messes on the floor when there's nothing else to use.
Hi Stacy,
Was aware of most of the uses but, making flowers out of it...wow, that was news to me!
Thanks for the info. Now, I will not head to a craft's store instead to my bathroom...lol
voted up as useful
who knew, I've actually used TP for some of the very alernative purposes you mentioned. Voted ^ & useful.
Thanks for SHARING
One of my favorite inventions becomes even better with these additional uses. Voting this Up and Interesting. Thanks for SHARING.
yaa,,
Every One used people this paper toilet, wiping and any other works..
Thanks for this.
Oh I tell you no more red noses with Charmin Ultra...ever...that is all I use for my nose. The cheap from Dollar Tree cleans up messes, wet and plug up tiny holes or key holes and that tiny bit that just won't go in the dust pan! Great hub!
very innovative uses of tiolet paper.no one had ever imagined that it will be so useful.awesome hub barbergirl28
This made me smile, thank you for sharing your toilet paper ideas :p
Very entertaining hub. I never realized just how many different uses there are for toilet paper. Great job! Thanks.
..actually this is the hub (subject) which influenced me to write Epi's happy ending - the other day - and will be posted on my Facebook page with a direct link back here because you are being so creative here (which is a wonderful trademark of yours and of course that fabulous sense of humor too) ....sending you warm wishes and a happy new year with health, happiness and prosperity for you and your family in 2012.

A great hub and thanks to epi for linking it back to his facebook page.
An up up and away here for sure.
Take care and enjoy your day.
Eddy.
Well Barbergirl, I think (pardon the pun) you've Covered it all so well...Such a Funny, and Clever Hub, certainly put a Smile on my Face!
If you are out of bandages toilet paper wrapped around a wound will clot blood my grandfather always carried a roll in his car for this purpose. Great hub.
We don't buy kleenex either. I even use tp to clean the bathroom. You have to wipe fast before the it dissolves in the cleaner. I guess folding the tp into flowers would be a time killer while sitting there, although I do like to read. Thanks for sharing!
My sister complains of my cheapo ways, but honestly, I have always preferred toilet paper for facial tissue. It is softer, and costs less than buying boxes of Kleenex. So I can have a box of Kleenex out for her and guests, but I prefer to save money with toilet paper.
On a humorous note, I was glad this hub was not about making your own family cloth. There is a new show on TLC where this lady makes cloth toilet paper, which she has been washing and reusing for five years. Can we say yuck!
Oh my gosh - I actually laughed so hard when I read your comment:) lol lol I had forgotten how the girls used it as padding - I never did I was positive it would fall out at some point:) haha
My little sister was out with her friends at a night club not long ago - and some poor girl lost one of her little water boobies:) Erin said everyone was kicking it around the bar - looking for the chick with one boob:) hahahaha you can delete this if ya wanna:) hahahaha!
.......lol lol lol ...well you and I make an incredible hub team - and I will always surrender that last roll of 3ply to you - lol lol - sending warm wishes your way and thank you for the link - you see great minds do think alike ...... lake erie time ontario canada 5:39pm
Good one barbergirl28, sure beats the Sears Roebuck catalog we had in the out house and the week old newspapers when I was a kid. Enjoyed this and remember seeing toilet paper on my dad's face after nicking himself while shaving. Thank the Lord above for the nice bathroom tissues most of us take for granted. We go through lots of it at our house.
I giggled like a dumb kid the whole way through this UNTIL I saw the TP flowers. Now I have a wonderful and fun craft for the next Girl Scout meeting. Can you imagine how much fun the girls will have making those?! And then to take them home ahahahah Great Hub BG :) Voted all over the place and then Up!
OK...let's get into this...
I am riding your train on "nose blowing" value...BUT...once things get real...i am headed to the store for Puff's (with lotion).
I actually like to keep my 'bug corpses' out in plain view as a warning to OTHER bugs. That's just me...
Many arts and craft ideas that I had not thought of but...like you...I do not advocate toilet papering! Unless they REALLY deserve it...or I don't like them.
Thanks,
Thomas
Very well done barbergirl28! Well, not everybody use toilet paper for their...behind, as I have noticed it here in the Philippines. Toilet paper is really a great invention for us. Can you imagine what the people used before this invention? Yep, thanks to toilet paper and the one who invented it;-)))Voted up!
Well, BBG, I have to leave it up to you to come up with an article that talks about the 'unmentionable'. I certainly appreciate its totally expendible quality, making it perfect for all those clean up jobs that you would not use any reusable wipe for.... Thanks Cred2
Some of the Filipinos use water to clean their behind. I can't imagine doing it. Have a great day!
Hehe... this was too funny. I loved the picture ;-) mommy, you're a mummy! Anyways, very entertaining and interesting. Still I don't use toilet paper for much... I prefer to use kleenex and napkins when cleaning up messes, bugs, or noses! lol. Still great hub :-)
Great hubs. Nice to know that there are other uses of this essential commodity. Well presented. Thanks for sharing. Voted up!
Fun hub Barb, Do they still TP the Rival Coaches houses?
The Puff with lotion doesn't work for cleaning glasses, but TP works great.
Kay
Wow BBG, what will you think of next, ha. I'm sitting here thinking, hmmmm, what was it like before TP was invented. Ewwww!
I actually do make little flowers with TP or napkins when I'm bored haha very cool hub! 1UP!
I remember me and my sister driving my Mum crazy using roll upon roll of loo rolls to make flowers. A loo roll, a packet of drinking straws and some elastic bands made for hours of fun back then!!...
A fun hub and thanks for sharing!!
Wiping your .... has never been so fun! :) Thanks for SHARING!
Hey Barbergirl28,
I'm not sure why I was drawn to this Hub in the first place...but now I remember. While searching for some wedding dresses online, I came across a contest for wedding dresses made out of TP! Hilarious, but beautiful dresses! Anyway, you can add that to your list lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awumcVhZOrg
barbergirl28 -LOL! This is funny! Who knew?!
I totally love your costume picture...giggle. Toilet paper flowers could be an interesting hobby.
I'm enjoying the comment thread. You and ThoughtSandwiches are always a treat :)
Well you know when you go out you don't wanna carry it in your purse, lol, but I do carry a roll in my car...it lasts forever and is always needed for something! Great for dust on the dash and cleaning the inside glass stuff, with just a smidge of the sanitizer I also carry there. Great useful hub.
Hi, this is so funny! and the sad thing is yes, I have used them for all of the above! and I am still trying to catch up with my nose! haha! funny story happened when I was out one evening, it was freezing cold and my friend only had on a small coat, and short skirt, but it was her face that was cold, when we came out of the pub it was snowing so she dived back in the pub and came out with toilet paper wrapped around her face! I was in hysterics, nearly falling over of the pavement, and all she did was look at me and say, well I am cold, and this is a great new accessory! thanks for sharing! nell
Great hub! When my daughter was about 4, we used toilet paper to make her into a mummy. She loved it, we had to do it several more times for her. I enjoyed this hub, thank you. Voted up and sharing! :)
HA! I love the toilet paper crafts and the wedding dress! Who would have ever thought! Great Hub!
I actually attended a wedding shower years ago when 2 teams of people tried to create the best looking "wedding dress" using toilet paper. Lots of laughter as I remember and the winning dress was truly amazing! Your hub brought back that memory of a fun time. Thanks! Up votes! :))
Very funny and very enlightening! GREAT job.
He He He!! This is too funny! Who would have ever thought how many things toilet paper could be used for. If ever my muse decide to disappear for a while, I will definitely take up the art-form of making toilet paper flowers! Lol!
Brilliant hub! Voted up, shared and etc.
As a child, we did not get snow vert often up here in Johannesburg. First time I saw snow was in 1962, I would read about snowball fights in the adventure books. Alas for us, no snow.
A roll of TP aded to small bucket of water, Viola, snoball. Now I lived in a block of flats (Apartments) on the 3rd floor.
Waiting for friends, to come back from school shop or library, send them a snoball.
Many a laugh, had as the game caught on, however boys being boys we carried it a bit further, and as attested by other comments, the padding did not help much.
Thanks for the hub.
Wedding dresses out of toilet paper??? It better not be an outdoor wedding with rain! :)
Clever article. Those wedding dresses in the video were awesome. Toilet paper is an absolute necessity. Somebody had to invent it. A book I am reading, The Map of Time, wove the invention of toilet paper into the plot. It was...interesting. Enjoyed reading your article.
I used to eat toilet paper. I didn't see that on your list of various uses. But I grew out of that and started eating actual paper. I like how you wrapped your face in TP for a photoshoot to add a nice visual to the hub. That's going above and beyond right there. I confess that I do origami. I like to turn my sheets of TP into sailboats before I wipe. But that's TMI isn't it. I need to make myself one of those toilet paper dresses. I can't believe I haven't thought of that before. I wish my hubs were as informative as yours. =( Do bears really use toilet paper? I saw that in a commercial, but it doesn't seem likely. They probably just grab a nearby squirrel or rabbit to clean up. That's if bears actually do #2 in the woods. I'm not sure if they do.
Using toilet paper for making flowers looks very interesting. By the way I also use toilet paper to wipe window pane.
In a college class I had to create an example of a sexist ad. Mine was on toilet paper :-)

HA! Very fun hub. Voted funny and awesome.
Once I had to use the bathroom in the office and looked down to grab some t.p. and discovered a printed number and bar code on the sheet. Once I stopped laughing, I took pictures. True story!
Hilarious! Officially one of my favorite hubs. I really appreciated that you show a beautiful side to toilet paper with the flower crafts, but I think I found this years Halloween costume within your piece! ;)
Cheers~
Will doo! ;)
I love the toilet paper crafts. Perhaps you can do a hub devoted just to that, with instructions. Voting this Up and Interesting.

Wow those roses are pretty for being made out of TP!
Now I AM a TP fan....with three girls you know I shoulda bought stock in it:) lol.
I used to try to lad my butt with it when I knew I was getting a spanking. It didn't absorb all THAT much! Haha
Up and everything - brilliant ideas!
